Who we are

WattButler is a service of Acre Energy (Pty) Ltd, based in Cape Town. We prepare and manage City of Cape Town SSEG export-registration applications for residential properties inside the City's electricity licence area.

What we collect

From the eligibility form, and from messages you send us about that enquiry:

• Name, email address and mobile number
• Cape Town suburb
• Who bills you for electricity (City of Cape Town, Eskom, or not sure)
• Solar system size, or that you are not sure of it
• Current registration status
• Installation month, when it is carried from the on-site calculator
• Photographs you choose to send (inverter label, meter box, main breaker)
• Technical notes needed to assess the property (inverter model, meter type, breaker rating)
• The page you arrived from, and any advertising campaign parameters attached to that visit

We do not ask for identity numbers, municipal account numbers or copies of documents on this form.

Why we collect it

We use this information to:

• Assess whether your property sits in the City of Cape Town licence area and can be registered for export
• Reply to the enquiry you submitted, including by email and WhatsApp
• Prepare a written eligibility review of the kind described on the form
• Keep a record of the enquiry and the review, so we can continue the file if you later instruct us
• Send you related information about WattButler's export-registration service, including where an enquiry is not taken further

Collecting these details is necessary to do the review you have asked for. Related follow-up about the same service is described below.

Related follow-up

If you submit an enquiry and do not proceed, we may still write to you about export registration for the property you asked us to review. You can stop those messages at any time by replying to any email, messaging us on WhatsApp, or writing to joshua@wattbutler.com. We will then limit further contact to what is still needed to close the file you opened.

Who we share it with

Hosting, form processing and email delivery run on Cloudflare, acting as our operator. We use the contact details you give us to reach you on WhatsApp. We do not sell personal information.

If you instruct us to submit an application, we then share what the City of Cape Town and the contracted ECSA professional require for that application. That is a later step, after you have asked us to proceed.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to complete the review you asked for, to continue a file you have asked us to open, and to meet ordinary business and tax record-keeping. When a record is no longer needed it is deleted or de-identified.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what we hold, to correct it, to delete it where POPIA allows, or to object to related follow-up. Write to joshua@wattbutler.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator:

Security

Submissions travel over HTTPS. The form is guarded against automated abuse. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we take the steps that are reasonable for a file of this kind.
